Alona Shylova

Alona was born and grew up in Kyiv, Ukraine. Since 2017 became interested in filmmaking and started shooting budget short films. Alona has completed a couple of screenwriting courses and also was a participant of a Polish-Ukrainian Film Reportage Workshops in Olsztyn.

Alona is a feminist and a social activist. In 2019 she directed a short social film «Poem» which was dedicated to the problems of gender equality and xenophobia. Also in 2019 she set up a crowdfunding project with the help of which she created a short film «Mavka». In her movies Alona explores topics of female rights, social norms and life.
